PTI August Blog Hop

This card didn't turn out quite as I planned, but at least I got a card made. I think the recipient will be glad to get a piece of real mail & won't be too harsh a critic.

Thanks for taking a look!

The 80s, PTI SAF 2014

This was a fun era. I'm getting a lot of use out of the little $5 thank you set.

The 60s, PTI SAF 2014

I liked the cross hatch pattern stamp, but didn't have it. Was able to reproduce the look.
I don't think I have ever used 7 different colors of ink on a card before!

The 1920s, PTI SAF 2014

The 1940s, PTI SAF 2014

I think I'm in a monochromatic mood today. I used PTI cardstock, but the stamps are Waltzingmouse. I love that sentiment.

Ancient Rome, PTI SAF 2014

I am getting so much mileage out of that coverplate. I still have one piece left to use on a card.

Ancient Rome, PTI SAF 2014

I used the Quatrefoil cover plate for a stencil/mask & sprayed the mist I mixed up for last year's SAF to give the faux mosaic.
More details to come later.

Ancient Rome, PTI SAF 2014

Stamped on the negative pieces from the Quatrefoil cover plate. Thanks to the Press n Seal (invented by Jennifer McGuire's husband -- just what you'd expect from a Texas Longhorn!) technique shown my Lori Willison in the MIM video, lining up all the pieces was a cinch!

Renaissance, PTI SAF 2014

I did the faux wax seal technique (many coats of embossing powder) to make a seal. My impression was not as good as I'd hoped, but all in all, I'm happy w/the card.

Lattice Birthday card

Made this fun card for our pseudo-daughter's birthday. She's one of our daughter's college roomies who now lives in our area. Her family is in Phoenix, so we are her Texas parents. She appreciates handmade cards & so it's fun to make them for her.
I cut two PTI Diagonal cover plates & layered them to make a lattice to hold my button flowers. The vines are from some new Spellbinders dies. the bling centers are from Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: PTI: dies, stamp; Bazzill cardstock, Spellbinders die, vellum, foam tape, Memento ink

Cat's Meow thank you card (OCC SYS 2)

Made a thank you card for my daughter to give to the friend who's been keeping her cat. The cat is marmalade & white & I tried my hand at coloring the PTI "Cat's Meow" kitty. Copics really help you look like you are better at coloring than you are -- I am usually happy every time I use them. He's standing on the green fleece blankie he likes to sleep on.
With this card, I've made 7 in the past week -- that's pretty high production for me!

Made some cards for my ex-pat daughter...

Did you not know that Texas is like a whole 'nother country?
She's moved to Indy & has friends spread all over the US. The state dies & "These United States" stamp set have sure come in handy. I now want the states spelled out & in a font larger than the abbreviations. Did you hear that, Lizzie Jones? ;)
She loves them, so I guess I'll be making some more.

80th b-day cards for my in-laws, PTI Topiary set -- OCC SYS 2

We had a family party last weekend to celebrate the 80th birthdays of my husband's parents. It was not the month for either one, but that's when people could make it to their little town.

I wanted the cards to be a bit matchy, so used the same stamp set & LO, but different accent colors. I hadn't used this topiary set before & was surprised at how well my 2-step stamping came out. I'm a bit challenged at lining things up. After stamping the planter a bit wonky, I decided to stamp them on separate paper & cut them out. Popped up on a bit of foam tape, I think they provide a nice accent.

They liked them, but I never think they really appreciate a handmade card any more than a store-bought one. It's somewhat expected that I will give cards that I made & I enjoy making them, so there we go!

Edited to add this to the gallery for Online Card Classes "Stretch Your Stamps 2" for the Floral Builders day. (I think that 2-step plants count too!)
